Dear Rotarians,

First, I wish to thank you all for the privilege of serving our club for the next year. I found Gavel Night (my first) to be both fun and also inspirational.  Given the challenges we face in our community today, the inspiration, and the hope that comes with it, is welcome and needed. So much is happening in Jaffrey and Rindge, both positive and negative, that it is hard to keep track, and even harder to figure out what we can (or should) do.  One of my goals for the year will be to bring both interesting, and actionable, information to be shared by the Club. This will help guide us in wisely committing our resources in ways that best benefit our community.

As you may already know, we will be meeting four times this summer. The dates are below, and I have entered these in the Club Calendar on ClubRunner.  I will be making extensive use of our App to both plan and to inform membership.
  • July 10: At the Fire Station in Jaffrey (Breakfast included)
  • July 24: At the Cathedral of the Pines, Pancake Breakfast
  • August 7: At the Cathedral of the Pines
  • August 21: At the Cathedral of the Pines, Pancake Breakfast

Among the speakers I am lining up for the summer are:

  • Amber Dewey, an expert on honeybees to talk about pollinators and some of the environmental issues we are facing.
  • Working for JR - the new organization formed to help support our school district will discuss issues and projects that we may wish to get involved with.
  • Someone to bring us an update on the Rt 202 project and its status and timeline. This will include a discussion on the plans for downtown Jaffrey.

Those of you who know speakers who might be willing, please contact me with names and email addresses!

Yours,

Tom Ahlborn-Hsu
