Hi Fellow Rotarians,

We meet at the Shattuck for our breakfast meeting on Thursday, May 23rd, at 7:15am.  Mike Shea has the Invocation.

Kudos to Dan Bemis and Paul "Hutch" Hutchinson for their informative presentation last week at our May 16th meeting as we prepare, once again, to host as many as 90 Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School students at Camp BEST.  Again, plan on hearing from Jim Banghart early in June as he works on scheduling.

John McCarthy is a Rotarian who wears many hats.  Not only has he been deeply involved with the Youth Exchange Program over the years, he has similarly been involved with the Nicaraguan effort, working alongside Travis Kumph.  This year will see Kayley Bennett, a Conant sophomore and Interactor, heading off to Italy in August for a year as our Club's Youth Exchange Student.  We will certainly look forward to learning of her experience upon her return.

In the meantime, our Rotary Club will be privileged on Thursday to hear Pauline Herman, the Peterborough Rotary's Exchange Student from France.  She will share her positive experiences in the United States since her arrival last August. Pauline was one of 15 Youth Exchange Students hosted by District 7870 Rotary Clubs in 2018-2019; a great group of kids!  John and I had the opportunity to hear them speak of their experiences during the recent May District Conference.

No Rotary meeting next week as it is the observance of Memorial Day. The following week, June 6th, finds us being hosted by the Monadnock Christian Ministries, where Roy Baldwin and his staff will greet us and feed us one of their great breakfasts. This will be followed by the "ribbon-cutting" for the new playground, funding for which the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary contributed last year.  Now that winter is over, the playground is sure to see plenty of use!

Yours in Service,

bob
