Dear Rotarians,

This Thursday, October 17th, the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club's Raffle Party organizing team will have a special meeting at Franklin Pierce University at 7:15 am. The team will focus on finalizing details for our upcoming fundraising event on October 26th. This meeting will serve as both a preparation and a progress report.

Due to the Columbus Day holiday, we not have a scheduled breakfast meeting on October 17th. However, please feel free to stop by if you have any updates or reports on ticket sales or collected money, and share them with the team. We will enjoy coffee and breakfast together, as we discuss the progress of the Raffle Party. Your presence would be greatly appreciated; however, if you have other commitments, we understand.

Last week, we had the pleasure of four different significant events. First, recognizing the students of the month allows our club to strongly support our students' achievements. Second, Rotarian Tom Hsu's presentation on climate change was insightful, emphasizing the importance of a clean environment for our safety and well-being. Third, we also heard from Franklin Pierce University President Dr. Peter Eden, who shared his background and vision for the university.

Fourth, our club's volunteers put forth a great effort during the Scarecrow event on October 12th, working in shifts to set up alongside Team Jaffrey and a musical team. Rotarians Owen Houghton, Bill Coleman, Bill Raymond, Bob Schaumann, John McCarthy, Tom Hsu, and Rudra Aryal volunteered. It was a proud moment to showcase our theme, "Working with the Community for the Community."

We are also proud of Ben Wheeler, Mike Shea, and Andy Lawn for representing our club at the recent Rotary District 7870 Golf Tournament and demonstrating our club's spirit. These are just a few examples of the many achievements our club has made, and each one of us has played a part in these successes.

We always appreciate the enthusiasm and effort you bring to our club. Your continuous participation and insights are the foundation of our vibrant group. Each of you makes a tremendous impact, and I am truly grateful for your dedication. Your commitment to our club makes it a success, and we look forward to your continued support and involvement.

Yours in Service,

Rudra

FPU President Dr. Peter Eden Visits Rotary

Peter Eden, President of Franklin Pierce University, visited the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club at our most recent meeting.  Dr. Eden is the seventh President of the University, having assumed the presidency in mid-July.  He shared his vision for the university; his sense of humor and his enthusiasm were evident.

Scarecrows on the Common... and Rotarians Were There!

Bill Coleman (L) and Owen Houghton, attired in his colonial garb, were two of several Rotarians who helped out at the Scarecrows on the Common on Saturday.  Beautiful autumn weather, complemented by dozens of families, made for a festive four-hour event, and now dozens of hay-filled scarecrows adorn the downtown Jaffrey sidewalks.
