Dear Rotarians,

Congratulations and thanks to all for the hard work and dedication that went into a making a successful Auction Night on Friday. All of the live auction items sold with the exception of one (expensive) trip. There was plenty of food to go around, and altogether a pretty smooth evening, thanks to Donna Senechal, Sam Lafortune, and our Master Auctioneer, Andy Lawn.

We bade farewell to Rotarian Harold "Dave" Davis on Monday, October 13th.  A beautiful afternoon service at the First Church of Jaffrey found several Rotarians in attendance.  Reverend Steve Miller officiated, and family members and friends shared wonderful memories of Dave.  Thanks to all Rotarians who were present.

Speaking of Steve, a former Rotarian, he and his wife, Jill, will be leaving the Jaffrey area to begin his retirement after four years of service to his congregation.  Steve and Jill met in Iowa, and this is where they will be heading.  A farewell "Come Celebrate" gathering will be held at the Park Theater on Monday, November 10th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  Cash bar.  Those who plan to join the festivities are requested to bring a plate of finger foods to share.

Moving forward, the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club will meet ThursdayOctober 23rd, at Franklin Pierce University at 7:15am. The president of Franklin Pierce University, Dr. Peter Eden, will speak with us this week.

We will not meet next week, October 30, due to Halloween. The idea of a Halloween theme party was tossed about Friday evening by at least one table. Maybe next year ...  It's still a while away, however, we have an evening social on our calendar for Thursday, November 13th. I am open for ideas, and, possibly, hosts for this event.

Yours in Service,

Tom
